Tuesday evening update

Yes, things have changed here with the congregation being established as well as the LDS' view on government. Last night we went to the Orem meeting where a group of 22 from Ontario, CA and 4 brothers from Colorado also attended.  The group from CA are young, very friendly and having a great time.  This morning they invited us to their house Sat afternoon for a barbecue, but we will be on our way home.  The brothers from CO were here in May with a group and are here again for 6 weeks and are thinking of moving here. There is also a group working in Draper, just north of Orem who came to check out Orem last night with included Randy Gillette, his wife, and daughter with her family.  We come to the KH in Provo each morning for meeting for field service to meet with all these groups, with Ted Woessner conducting, who is training how to use questions and reason with people on their level.

It seems that since Romney lost the election the LDS are much more willing to admit the governments are under the Devil's control, especially after we reason from the scriptures on this.  In fact one man that had his radio blasting Rush L. said that "If God doesn't destroy the governments soon, he will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah".  We are working many apts and dorms next to Utah Valley University finding many young x- missionaries and well as students from around the world which includes some Muslims.

One young Muslim man Leon and Beth found today is from France and of course speaks French.  We started with Ex 3:15 that we worship the God of Abraham, Jehovah. This put us on a common ground that we recognize Abraham as a prophet.  Then we asked Hanzi about how spirits are tested coming from heaven (like LDS teach as well) and being born here on earth.  What if they are born in Africa where there is starvation and they live only a few days, how is that a fair test?  The same is true if born to parents on Meth or alcohol and have problems from birth, is that fair and just?  He said no. Is Allah unfair or unjust? No  Then we covered Gen 2:7 regarding the soul.  Hanzi took the Teach bk, we showed him the website and he was excited to see the book in French.  He said we can come back on Thursday.

Tonight we finished the Watchtower study and talked about service.  Wednesday is a hiking/shopping/rest day.

The maintenance man here at the house told us about some of the history here.  Robert Redford lives across the valley and rents this house several months a year when he has guests for his director and film festivals.  Infact, the movie Jeremiah Johnson was filmed here right at the edge of the property with the mountains and Stewart falls in the background..We will walk there tomorrow and up to the falls.  If we get a little higher the sisters will be able to see his house in the distance.  Will keep you posted on how that goes, Bernie.
